Permanent hair reduction with Quanta Eternal Youth IPL treatment

All your questions answered

How does IPL work?

Getting rid of unwanted hair has never been easier, by using gentle pulses of light which is absorbed by melanin-pigmentation in the hair follicle. This light absorption creates thermal energy-heat this disables and destroys the follicle, preventing future hair growth. The dead hair falls out after 10-20 days. Hair that does not any pigmentation in it (white, fair, blonde, grey) is not “seen” and so is not treated. Unlike conventional lasers that only emit one fixed wavelength, Eternal youth IPL delivers a broad spectrum of light across a broad band of visible wavelengths, also achieving excellent long term results when treating skin conditions

Can it damage my skin, any side effects?

Eternal youth IPL is a safe, non-invasive treatment, with very few side effects and “no down time”. Your IPL specialist will do a spot test to see how well your skin and hair responds and choose the correct settings for you.

It is important that you don’t have a suntan whilst being treated as the light could target the pigmentation in the skin as well as the pigment in the hair

Can it treat Asian skin?

Yes, this generally is not a problem as long as the person does not have a suntan as well

Why will I need more than 1 treatment?

Our hair grows in a 3 stage cycle therefore IPL will only be effective on actively growing hairs. At any given time you have many hair follicles that are resting or dormant, as these follicles begin actively growing they too will need treating. Therefore a course of treatments is required to successfully treat the hair in the growing stage each time.

How many treatments are required to achieve satisfactory hair removal?

The number of treatments varies from person to person. A treatment programme will be designed to your needs. You should expect an average of 3-8 treatments before saying goodbye to unwanted hair (unless during the consultation it is established that there is a possible hormonal problem such as PCO’s)

How long does a treatment take?

Large areas such as a back can take about an hour to treat whereas an upper lip may take less than a few minutes. It is considered much faster than laser hair removal because larger areas can be treated with each flash.

How often will I need a treatment?

This varies as each individual hair grows at different rates; treatments are usually spaced approximately at 4-6 weeks to treat the stimulated hairs in the growing stage

What happens during the procedure?

As we are using intense pulse light therapy you will be required to wear goggles to protect your eyes throughout the procedure. Prior to light therapy the area will be shaved and a cooling gel is applied to protect the skin and help light absorption, the crystal is pressed onto the skin and a flash of light is passed through the crystal onto the skin, simple

Does it hurt, how does it feel?

You will feel a slight sting, similar to an elastic band snapping on the skin, any discomfort is momentary and will disappear immediately; clients report that it is less painful than waxing however some areas are more sensitive than others

Can I use topical analgesia?

We do not use these products, as they can reduce the effectiveness of the treatment by contracting blood vessels, and there have been cases of fatality

Can men be treated?

Absolutely, it’s very popular with men, for unwanted hair such as on the back, neck and shoulders. However due to the amount of male hormones in the body, which are responsible for the production of hair growth, we advise men to budget for around 8-10 treatments. However, excellent results can be achieved with only a few treatments.
